It differs from other books on the subject as it introduces each topic with a problem faced by the surgeon, and then looks at the anatomical, physiological and pathological basis of that particular problem. This is followed by the clinical presentation of the problem, what factors aggravate it and how it should be managed, including relevant surgical techniques. 'Integrated Basic Surgical Sciences' follows the format of the MRCS, AFRCS and Australasian examinations, providing an ideal textbook for candidates.
