Descripción Hardcover. Unpaginated folio in 14.5x11.5 inch papered boards fastened Chinese-style with thick decorative blue cord. Presswork uses a large font on thick alkaline paperstock, a nice production but one's attention is drawn more to the color illustrations, which are fullpage, very bright, ingenious and funny. They are also profuse, having as many full-bore pictures as there are printed pages. Problem with this copy is the cover, which is dust-soiled, foxed, and severely silverfished along the spine, which is so badly eaten that the underlying bindery threads are visible. As is. Moderate marginal sun fading to front cover and spine, with a three-inch crack in the cloth cover at the top of the front joint. Inside, a very good to near fine copy - clean, bright and unmarked. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~RCL~ [2.5P] Story of the famed Monkey King who organized all the other monkeys and saved their world from the terrible demons and trolls. This is a 'selection of incidents' from the story attributed to Wu Cheng'en (circa 1500-1582) of the Ming dynasty, originally titled Journey to the West but retitled Monkey: A Folk-Tale of China in the 1942 English translation by Arthur Waley.
