Descripción Soft cover. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 6 + 70 pages inside stiffened covers, an historical look at the beginnings of the Haslingden Cricket Club, as well as early cricket in the Rossendale Valley, told by the prolific historian Chris Aspin (b 1933), perhaps best known for his works on Lancashire's textile industry as well as for many publications on his home town Helmshore itself. Using local newspaper reports as well as other sources, Aspin traces the growth of Haslingden CC from 1853; through its families and early matches; via its local derbies with their great and local rivals Bacup in the 1870s and '80s; the visit of a Lancashire county team, led by A N Hornby, in1885 for a benefit match; the emergence of other local clubs; the formation of the Lancashire League with Haslingden one of its founder members; culminating in winning the League in 1900 where celebrations throughout town gave rise to the title of the book. This is not recorded in Padwick. (Flat) SIGNED by author on title page. Marks on covers, a little bumping at spine, a little wear around corners, an old price written in pen on inside front cover, internally though clean and tidy in general. Signed by Author(s).
