Shelley S. Peterson is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at OISE/University of Toronto. A former classroom teacher, Shelley has written five books including Guided Writing Instruction: Strategies to Help Students Become Better Writers. She has written several articles based on her literacy research, and serves as the president of the Toronto Reading Council. Most recently, Shelley has been awarded the SSHRC Standard Grant for research in teaching writing in contemporary elementary and middle schools. Shelley’s passion for writing and children’s literature is evident in her writing, teaching, and professional development workshops.
