He died in Los Angeles in 1950. Among his most important books are "Small Town Tyrant", "The Patrioteer", "Young Henry of Navarre", and "An Age is Examined". Volker Skierka, born in 1952, was a correspondent for "Suddeutsche Zeitung" between 1979-92, and the editor-in-chief of "Merian" magazine for five years.
