Hardcover. Condición: g+. First American edition. Quarto. 263, [1]pp. Original illustrated dust-jacket over green cloth, with gold lettering on spine. Front free endpaper signed by Larry Rivers. Tipped in color frontispiece. Publisher's logo on title. Illustrated with 285 full-color and duo-tone illustrations, "Drawings and Digressions" presents a fascinating tour through the life and work of a vital figure of the New York school, Larry Rivers. Moderate shelf wear. Some soiling to paper edges. Dust-jacket, binding and interior in overall good+ condition. About the artist: Larry Rivers (1923-2002) was an American artist, musician, filmmaker and occasional actor who resided and maintained studios in New York City, Southampton, New York (on Long Island) and Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Rivers is considered by many scholars to be the "Godfather" and "Grandfather" of Pop art, because he was one of the first artists to really merge non-objective, non-narrative art with narrative and objective abstraction.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. First edition. Foreword by John Ashbery. Large square quarto. A few pencil marks in the text, near fine in near fine dustwrapper; affixed to the endpapers is a mockup of the dustwrapper. Inscribed by Rivers to the husband of his editor, Carol Southern: "For Alex from Larry Rivers. Dec. '79." The recipient, Alex Keneas, was a film critic for *Newsday*, and Carol Southern's second husband; her first husband was the author Terry Southern. A nice association.
