Precedes book publication so arguably the first edition of this work. Other fiction includes parts 5, & 7 of 7 (7/30, & 8/13) of Mr Moto is So Sorry, a spy/adventure novel by J P Marquand, The Cat Named Dempsey (7/30), a short story by Stephen Vincent Benet, and Good Fellowship to All (9/3), a short story by Arthur Train. Cover art by John LaGatta (7/30 - Formal Couple on Balcony), Douglass Crockwell (8/13 - Camping Out), Ivan Dmitri (8/27 - Photograph of baby's head), & Julius Moessel (9/3 - Two Cockatoos). Condition issues include: 7/30 - small chip to the bottom corner of the front cover through page 4. missing pages 23/24 (23 - first page of the Make Money, Little Businessman, or Else - by Neil M Clark 24 - Post Scripts page; ) 8/13 - a 2.5" x1.25" chip out of the bottom left of the front cover and a small one at the top left, a light damp stain to the bottom right corner that shows through the first 10 to 15 pages; 8/27 - a soil spot to the back cover & light wrinkling at the bottom left near the spine. and 9/3 - two pages (31/32 & 41/42) that are partially separated from the spine. A flawed but still collectible set with serial installments and a stories by prominent and collectible authors.

Fiction includes most notably parts 3 - 7 (conclusion) of 7 of And Then There Were None (Ten Little Indians), a mystery novel by Agatha Christie, and The Editor Regrets, a Drones Club short story by P G Wodehouse (7/1). Other fiction and articles include It's Just a Play, a short story by Gladys Taber (6/3), Tell Me About the War (6/10), a short story by J P Marquand, Widow Voyage (6/10), a short story by Philip Wylie, Wooden Wedding (6/10) a short story by George Sessions Perry, Idle Money - Idle Men (6/17), an article about proposals to solve the Depression by future presidential candidate Wendell Willkie, A Man From Fort Necessity (7/1), a short story by Stephen Vincent Benet, Charles' Gift (7/1), an article by detective fiction writer Hulbert Footner on the 17th century house he restored on the Chesapeake Bay, and others. Condition issues include: 6/3 - a small closed tear at the bottom of the front cover, and a .375" x 1" chip at the upper left of the back cover, with smaller chips diminishing through page 87, 6/10 - light soil to the front cover; 6/17 - light edge wear to the front cover with a 3.75" closed tear at the top at the spine; 6/24 - small dog ears at the top of pages 93 - 96, & a small closed tear at the top right of the back cover; and 7/1 - light wear to the fore edge of the front cover. A very good set with serial installments and short stories by a prominent and collectible authors, 1939 NY World's Fair ads, and pre-WW II related ads and articles. A heavy oversize set that may require additional postage.
