Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Apparent First Edition (NAP). Once listed, this will be the Only signed hardcover for sale anywhere on the Internet. The inscription is on the blank first front end paper. It is dated July 31, 2007. It reads: 'For Dary, a book filled with many, many stories, some of which reach back to "sixth grade." Julian Schlusberg.' You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are in very nice condition. They are very clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The edges and corners look perfect. The page edges are spotless. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book looks just as terrific. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any soiling. That includes the white inside covers and end papers. I'm also not seeing any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments. And the signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere in the book. There are a good many illustrations, photographs of scenes within plays. They all appear to be in excellent condition. You can see the jacket in the first few photos. It too is very clean. I'm not seeing any soiling. I'm not seeing any conspicuous wear. The flaps are in excellent condition, also perfectly clean and without wear. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: Letters From the Prophets is the story of a teacher, his students, and their combined passion for the theater: a passion that propelled Hamden High School's Theater Department to extraordinary heights, garnering numerous accolades and achieving national prominence. The turmoil and experimentation of the late 1960s fueled this fledgling program, and a succession of daring, dedicated, and enthusiastic students forged the path for a program that was to become a model for countless others, "raising the bar" in the name of educational theater nationwide. Julian S Schlusberg's memoirs-- factual, funny, poignant, and sad -- span thirty years and pay homage to the work of many. The book covers the chronological events of the department's emergence, while interspersing personal and professional anecdotes including crossing paths with Jason Robards Jr., James Earl Jones, Katherine Hepburn, Neil Simon, Meryl Streep, and countless others. But mostly this book honors thirty years of students, diverse in background and interests, yet united in their diligence and zeal for learning about drama. On stage and behind the scenes they achieved what no one thought was possible, creating a tradition of excellence while bringing joy to an admiring public and earning unparalleled honor.'.
