Précurseur de Gilbert Lély, qui poursuivra son oeuvre, Maurice Heine est le premier grand éditeur du divin Marquis dont il publie successivement ce Dialogue entre un prêtre et un moribond, Historiette, contes et fabliaux (1927), Les Infortunes de la vertu (1930) et Les 120 journées de Sodome (1931). Son érudition, sa pensée vigoureuse et rigoureuse, dont attestent ses préfaces, ont fait dire à André Breton que grâce à Heine « l'immense portée de l'oeuvre sadienne est aujourd'hui hors de cause. »Daté de 1782, le manuscrit du Dialogue entre un prêtre. constitue avec certitude l'écrit le plus ancien connu de Sade. Exemplaire à grandes marges, en superbe condition.
